Third Assignment

The target for my organizational blog is anyone who is interested in the history and past successes of PEPP and whoever is interested in the track record of the organization. This audience helps PEPP by providing more support for the organization through knowledge and interest, while PEPP itself is trying to get people intrigued about the whole organization and the clients they help out.

To the best of my knowledge, this audience has been more or less reached in the past. There have been several attempts at this sort of history chronicalization before but it never really caught on to a large degree. Apparently PEPP used their website to reach the audience but that part of the site was infrequently looked at. There just wasn't the reader base to get the project perpetually run.

From what I already know I'm going to be writing down important bits of information in a chronological order to help promote the track record of PEPP. I guess readership might be a bit of a problem; hitory buffs and other non-profits interested in PEPP will read it, but I'm not really expecting a huge turnout. I'll try to convey the information as best I can but I doubt that anyone who isn't interested in history will really read it.

I sort of report to Duke, but mainly he's given me free rein on what I want to do with the site. The organization does have a website, http://www.pepp.org, and the URL of my organization site is http://pepp20years.blogspot.com. The organizational site will have a link to the PEPP site, but otherwise will be separate from the main website itself. The reason behind this is that I'm familiar with the Blogger software and not so much with PEPP's server software. I opted for Blogger as well because of convinience reasons, mainly that I can sign in anywhere and post things without worries of having to mess with signing into another person's system.

Samuel,

I believe that what you write about will be intersting and will draw the reader in.

I was wondering if you would consider changing the title of your blog to have the word Oraganizing instead of Service?

"20 Years of Organizing the Community"
for example.

Also, I have set up an entery page for the blogs at:
www.pepp.org/peppblogs/

Let me know when you are ready to go live,

Thanks,

Duke

Yours is the one Ill be following closely. Aswell as chads. I expect we could share info and ideas. Probabbly chad too. Maybe, if needed, we could meet every once in awhile (you, Chad, & myself) if needed. We will probabbly be crossing over enough to make this helpfull. I doubt we'll know untill we get our org blogs up and start posting. Just a thought.

I was struck by your note that PEPP has tried this before -- with little readership. It is worth giving some serious thought and planning to how you might approach this differently in an effort to expand readership and reach the desired audience. Duke's idea of including "organizing" in the title is a start. Give some thought to how you might capitalize on that. One way might be to focus less on PEPP as an organization, and more on how PEPP has helped individuals (emphasis on individuals) get involved.
